What is Organic Skincare?

Caring for your skin organically is much like eating organic foods. It means you don’t want to use chemicals on your body any more than you want to put them into it. That means that not only are the ingredients used in these products organic, but they have to be grown organically, as well. No pesticides or other chemicals can be used on them during the growing or manufacturing process.

When looking for organic skin care products, there are some terms that will help you find the best ones. If a product label says 100% organic, then that is exactly what it means. If it just says “organic”, then it is at least 95% organic. If the label just says that the product is “made with organic ingredients”, then they are only required to be made with 70% of organic ingredients. If you don’t know your terminology, you may not be getting what you want in a product.

Why is this type of skin care product increasing in demand? Because more and more women are realizing that natural is not only safer for their skin but is also healing without the side effects you can get from harsh products. It’s not unusual to use a skin care product and have an allergic reaction to it. It even happens after you’ve used a product for a long period of time. When you use organic products on your skin, it is very unlikely you will develop any reaction no matter how long you use it.

Due to their lack of side effects, women with delicate or sensitive skin usually get much better results from organic products. Even those who have problems with a sensitive scalp can find relief. Sometimes, shampoos can be irritating and even lead to hair loss. Those who have switched to organic products have had a much greater success.

Acne treatments are also a type of organic skin care that has been highly successful. Often, the treatments that have chemicals as their ingredients only dry skin and worsen the problem. Those with only organic ingredients have been proven to be more effective without worsening the acne.

Why pay more from a store on these PRODUCTS (shampoo, Gel, Juice, etc) while all you have to do is buy the raw material for just over $3 at walmart ?

I am not sure what type of $3 product you were referring to, but yes, a lot of cosmetic products seem overpriced. Of course, most of the ingredients are probably only a fraction of the cost of the price you pay. But you also have to remember that making the product might cost you a couple of hours (not sure), and you can probably only keep it for a couple of days, before bacteria start to grow.

The price of a cosmetic product is not just the cost of the ingredients (which is probably just 1/10 of the final price) but also the cost of labor to make it, to transport it to the shelf. In addition, the price also include a lot of research, allergy testing, and the presence of conservatives, so that you can keep that bottle for a year or so.

If the ingredients would be organic, the bottle would probably proudly state so. If not, assume it is not organic.

These are just general things I can think of, and they are true for a lot of products. Why pay $10 for a $2 ingredient cost apple pie, or $100 for a $10 material-cost pair of jeans? Because most of us do not want to make it ourselves, and we like to pay for the convenience of putting it in our shopping cart, or for a designer label.
