and there is no strings attached to the tea bags. The instructions on the back of the box tell me to just drop the tea bag into a pot of boiling water, brew between 3-5 minuets and stir occasionally. This is normal, many companies don’t have strings on their teabags.

I would recommend not using boiling water. Most green tea taste better if you use water that has cooled somewhat from boiling (about 180F or 82C). Some green teas will taste too bitter, sour, or astringent, or have “off” qualities in the aroma if the water is too hot. My article on brewing tea explains a bit more:

But it depends on the individual tea. Just experiment.

In my world though? I’ve had relatively poor luck with green tea from tea bags. I recommend if you really want to get into green tea, to buy high-quality loose-leaf green tea.
