“Scobelizer” AKA Robert Scoble, Former Microsoft Employee Got “Scobled” on Facebook!
I got an opportunity between multi tasking today on and offline to slide on Mr. Robert Scoble’s page on Facebook. Robert Scoble, aka Scobleizer, was originally hired in the beginning by Microsoft as a blogger. So Robby is NOT new to the blogosphere. As a matter of fact, I go by his blog online every now and then to see what his gums are flapping about tech wise. Now, being that Robert has almost five thousand friends on Facebook, it leaves the mind to ponder. Did he employ a sophisticated technique using a social scripting crawler, trying to remain under radar? Maybe or maybe not. I’m not saying he’s guilty of anything. Somebody may have potentially hated on him, due to the fact that he has a very high profile array of educated friends who are in high places, such as his old pals from Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Harvard Grads and more. I did see those kind of folk on his friends list on Facebook. I will say that is certainly a “good look” on his behalf. His starting lineup of Facebook friends definitely makes his social media networking game look “A list”.
Now, if you’ve never heard of him, like I said previously, he was hired by Microsoft in the beginning as a blogger. Scobleizer is like Jay-Z. Before inducted into the professional game his niche talent was organic, meaning he was a natural at what he was doing in the beginning, as well as up to now. Microsoft hired Scoble to blog about the company in the hope that doing so would reduce the hostility the company engenders in the geek community. Through his blogging for Microsoft as an employee, he had helped to reduce the negative image people saw Microsoft as, in hopes of keeping the internet community constantly tuned into Microsoft, as well as the outside world. That was his humble beginning into celebrity stardom as a A-List blogger today.
Scoble ceased fire from blogging for Microsoft in 2006, this man had the game on lock online, in terms of now driving personal traffic to his personal WordPress blog. His posts are read every once in a blue moon. By far, I give respect and credit to this man for not only using his brains and capitalizing off of being a known authority blogger through being a former employee of Microsoft, but he’s also very informative on keeping up to the latest tech trends on every new social media startup. Every time one starts up (like every week a new social site emerges online out of nowhere), he’s blogging on it. Scoble is very technically intelligent. But, some of his intelligence I seriously question.
After leaving Microsoft, he moved onto pursuing greener pastures. His next employment move, as reported by many silicon valley bloggers in the blogosphere is onto PodTech. He relocated from Seattle, Washington, to Silicon Valley. Parting ways with Gates, Robert Scoble expressed hostility. Microsoft has benefitted from the financial fruit of his blogging efforts in amassing millions of dollars from his blogging efforts, compliments of Scoble retaining a positive light for Microsoft, where he once worked tirelessly.
The thing I am wondering is why did he move onto working for someone else, when by 2006, you had your own blog domain and a loyal following. Additionally, he sounds positively content with working for someone else, while his domain Scobleizer.com advertises a Google Page Rank of 7. Additionally, his Alexa overall traffic rank for that domain is 18,465, which ranks alone in The United States 3,961. Scobleizer definitely has computers putin in the blogosphere! In his Scobleizer blog, he’s also an affiliate of Amazon.com. My mind is still failing to register why he’s working at another company, when he could be sitting at home or running his own venture on that domain, just making a fruit of a killing in affiliate marketing alone! He doesn’t have any Google ads on there. I guess he might sincerely be against them. That I can’t confirm or deny, nor speak for that man as to how he feel about “Ads by Google”. With a Page Rank of 7 in Google for a personal domain, this means he definitely gets over 1 million visitors a month alone, from organic search alone.
Back to the facebook thing. Scoble was an early bird to being among one of the first Facebook users, when Zuckerberg was graduating from his infancy as a tech startup from his college dormitory room. Zuckerberg was getting that gUaP up in silence I say…lol The maximum allowed friend capacity on Facebook, if I am correct to this very day is 5,000. Allegedly, it’s said that Robert Scoble hath made numerous attempts to override the system in getting his way on acquiring more than the maximum number allowed friends on Facebook. Zuckerberg’s customer service team helped Scoble pump his brakes and put their foot in Scoble’s ASS, by disabling his account. Now, the entire world knows that Scobleizer’s Facebook account is DISABLED. But, before it was disabled, it’s suspected that through his relationship with a company online named Plaxo, allegedly he used a script someone said (NOT me) they passed to him in manipulating certain features of The Facebook site.
