great spice organic

Any ideas to spice up jarred pasta sauce?

Normally I make my own but this year’s tomato crop was terrible. I found organic ones at Whole foods (to avoid trans fats and corn syrup) but they are quite bland. Any suggestions for adding more punch to these sauces? I have tried adding more oregano, garlic, tomato paste etc. I am looking for more unusual ideas. I am a vegetarian but fiance isn’t so any ideas would be great (I always make two pots of sauce). Thanks for your help!

I’m sorry about your tomato crop – I had a bumper year, and still picking.

Just add what ever spices you normally would, and cook it down for a long time. Also, try adding some sauteed veggies to boost the flavor. Since your fiance isn’t a vegetarian, make meat balls and add spicy Italian sausage directly to the sauce, and let this cook for several hours. Freeze what you don’t eat. It’s wonderful.
