Need help from Black women….?

I want to grow out my hair. It’s currently at shoulder length but I want it to grow to bra strap length (or longer). This is what I currently do:
Wash hair once a week (I use Infusium 23 Renew and Repair Shampoo and Conditioner)
Spray in sheen stuff (Organic’s Olive Oil or whatever its called)
Spray in leave-in conditioner (Motions)
Air-dry
Flat iron

I’d suggest washing your hair with a Conditioner only. Shampoo tends to strip hair of natural oils. Then like once a month wash with shampoo.

The other things you’re doing seem good, but make sure that when you moisturize your hair with the Olive stuff you don’t put in too much. I usually judge too much by if you run your hand through your hair and there’s a sheen on your hand as too much. Just maybe a few spritzes and disperse it through your hair.

But stay away from the flat iron as much as you can. Don’t flat iron everyday. But if you really have to flat iron, make sure you use heat-protection spray of some kind. My mom uses some kind of Ion spray (white bottle with magenta print).

Just wrap your hair at night with a silk scarf or sleep on a silk pillow so your hair can stay in good shape and all you really have to do is brush it in the morning to get set for your day.

I’d also suggest after washing your hair, squeeze a dollop of conditioner in your hand and spray some of the oil on it and mix it together. That’s a pretty good substitute for the leave in conditioner because it’ll put some moisture in your hair.

Practice good combing (work your way from bottom up), and massaging your scalp (with your fingers, or a brush) will stimulate it and contribute to good hair growth. Keep up with trimming too, and if you can stretch your relaxers to maybe 2-3 months and keep your hair moisturized in between those times to keep it in good shape.

But I can’t stress enough to stay away from the flat iron as much as you can.

Edit: Once a week isn’t bad. It’s the everyday stuff that’s detrimental. Anyways, good luck with your hair.
