You may also want to use becoming a CNA as a building block for further training in various other professions in the healthcare field. Since the training only lasts a few weeks before you start working at little to no expense, it will allow you to start experiencing the machinations of the healthcare field and decide whether you would like to commit more time to the further training required for other jobs in the healthcare field such as becoming a nurse.

Red Cross CNA Training Classes

The Red Cross is well known for providing high caliber nursing personnel and has built up this reputation for over a century. In addition, the Red Cross has spent the past two decades trying to build up a reputation for providing trained nursing assistants through its many Red Cross training classes available in many states.

Students who graduate from these chapters are highly sought after by employers due to the good reputation of this organization. Another reason to choose the Red Cross CNA training classes is that the state guidelines for suitable training vary from one state to state and each chapter that has these classes adheres to not only the state guidelines but also the federal guidelines for the training of nursing assistants.

The classes are usually taught by Registered Nurses with help from other nursing professionals and the classes feature state of the art equipment to help students learn the proper way to accomplish the various duties and responsibilities required on nursing assistants at hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

Some of the equipment contained in these classes includes wheelchairs, hospital beds, bed pans, mannequins, a Hoyer lift, etc, for student practice sessions. The curriculum covered comprises textbook work, practice sessions as well as clinicals where the students will get to practice all that they have learned in a hospital or nursing home with real patients.

It is important to note that the pass rate for students who took Red Cross CNA training classes and sat for the certification exam is much higher than the pass rate for students who took these classes at various other organizations. In addition, some local chapters help their graduates find employment. The employment rate of graduates of the training classes at the Red Cross is also much higher than graduates of other organizations.

While you may be able to find free CNA training classes, Red Cross CNA training classes which are certainly much more valuable and more prestigious than free CNA training classes, are not available for free. The cost varies from one chapter to the next and usually varies from about $700 to $2,000. The chapter in Calhoun, Georgia costs about $670 while another in San Bernardino, California costs about $1,900 with the rest of the chapters across the nation falling somewhere in between.
