Does my diet sound unhealthy?
I’m a very regimented person, so I eat basically the same thing every day.
I usually don’t eat breakfast but if I have time, I’ll have a granola bar and orange juice.
For lunch I have a sandwich on dark rye bread with organic cheddar cheese, ‘spring mix’ greens, and chive mayo. Also, a hummus and pretzel cup, a baggie of sugar snap peas and bean sprouts, and some fruit like cherries or grapes. And a fiji water or tea to drink.
I usually have pasta or rice for dinner, with a side of veggies and orange juice.
My dad claims i’m very unhealthy because I don’t eat meat or have a lot of protein, and I eat very small portions. I just don’t eat when i’m not hungry and I think the texture of meat is raunnch. btw, I’m 17, 5′ 5″, and 109 lbs. How to you suggest I alter my diet?
your dad is right. You really do need protein in your diet. You don’t necessarily need it from red meat though. Fish and chicken are excellent sources of protein, and are very good for you. However, if you’re opposed to meat of any form, you can get protein from eggs, milk, cheese, nuts, peas, and dried beans. Proteins provide energy and are needed for tissue growth and repair. And, I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times, but you really, REALLY need to eat breakfast. That’s what gives you energy for the day, your body needs that fuel. Keep the granola bar and juice, but try adding just 1/2 cup of oatmeal. You can boil some water, pour it in a disposable cup and eat it on the way out. That’s what I do when I run short on time. That or I make myself a really quick PB&J sandwhich.
Otherwise your diet sounds really healthy. It’s great that you don’t have sodas, and that you don’t eat when you’re not hungry. Keep up the good work!
