Duvet Covers For The Military

During my four years that I spent in the military I encountered many things that where disturbing to say the least. nd also I ran into many obstacles that I was forced to overcome. While we where preparing to go to war I treated everything like it was only a game to be played. Once we actually went over seas to Iraq I began to realize exactly how important this game of life and death was. The fact that I was born and raised in the suburbs and not in the country where kids learn about handling and operating weapons early or the city where kids build mental and physical toughness, not only put me at a huge disadvantage but also put me out of touch with my fellow peer group.

During most of my military experience I was playing catch up the entire time.  I had two big problems that would separate me from my pears. The first being I am a clean freak and the hygienic conditioning of the  bedding we where forced to sleep on there was way below my expectations. Not only that I also had a huge organization problem as well. Which is quite ironic hat I was not only a clean freak but also unorganized. Eventually I was introduced to a solution to my worries by one of the older marines in my unit. He also did not sit to well with the bedding we where presented with but instead of sleeping on the floor like i did he slept on his own duvet cover that he brought everywhere with him. After seeing my situation he offered me one of his extra duvet cover sets for my own bed. Which I happily excepted and from then on I would use that duvet cover set for everything. Not only would I sleep on it night after night but I also used it to organize my space in a timely manor.Whenever we had to be somewhere in a hurry I would always be the first one with all my gear ready to go packed securely in my duvet cover and because of the quality stitching I was able to hold more than I could in my old sea bag. I had done such a turn around that it impressed my team leader enough to suggest me for a promotion in the ranks. That is why I suggest that every marine, sailor, airman, and soldier should be equipped with a duvet cover.

How should i paint my room with this bedding?

its the purple one!
my aunt wants to paint three walls gray and one wall purple, but im not a ‘gray’ person i guess you can say. i was thinking doing just doing three walls a light purple and then one wall a dark purple .
does anyone else have any other ideas ?

That is very pretty bedding. What I would do is take the pillow sham to the paint store and have them mix a flat wall paint exactly the same shade of purple. That would be the color for the three walls. The wall that has the headboard against it would be in a darker purple, and it would be the one that I would paint last.

How I personally do this is to take the left-over paint (after the other three walls are done) and I add black to it. I slowly mix in black until I like the color. This can be done using artist’s acrylics or any other kind of water-based black paint. If you add just a drop of black, the purple will look the same, but it will be more gray-ish. If you add more black, the purple will become a deeper, darker color. I keep adding black until I like the result. If you mess it up and you don’t like it, then you throw out the left-over paint and go back to the paint store and pick a color. You can ask the paint mixer to make a quart of paint by adding the exact same colorant as he did in the gallon. You have simply removed white from the exact same color that way.

The reason that you shouldn’t use gray is because the purple in the bedding is subtle, and there is no gray in the bedding. There is nothing to tie the gray in, and make it look like it belongs in the room. The reason to make the purple on the bed wall darker is that it will have a stronger impact, and make the bed more of a focal point. I would make the headboard either black or white with this bedding. You can paint your existing headboard in a semi-gloss finish if it isn’t already black or white. If the purple on the bed was a stronger color, I might paint the bed wall with the exact match, and then dilute the purple with white for the other three walls.

Your plan is indeed good design. Your Aunt is trying to solve a problem of too much purple which doesn’t actually exist.
