what are the best hair products for my kids natural curly thick ethnic hair?

I have two little ones: Son is 3.5 and daughter is almost 10 months. I’m so lost with their hair. My kids and I have thick curly hair. Both the kids have tight spiral curls, that are thick and oh my god dry! I’ve tried kinky-curly and that works great for my hair as well as theirs but, its not formulated for kids so its a hassle trying to wash hair without getting it in their eyes. Then my sister suggested organics by africas best but that has their hair feeling dry and rough. I love say yes to carrots but they only make a baby shampoo and not a conditioner (not sure if I need one though).
So any help on this topic would be great, and oh yeah, I use olive oil in their hair for moisture. that seems to be working rather well.

Try a cleansing conditioner. There are many on the market to choose from, and the more expensive ones like Wen are 10xs better, but if you’re on a budget then there are cheaper ones. Try Hair One from Salleys Beauty Supply. It’s about $10 a bottle, and if your daughter has lots of hair then buy a couple of bottles because you’ll go through them quickly. However, if you have money to spare, then I suggest you buy a more expensive brand like Deva Curl or Wen because they’re more effective, and I’ve used the cheap the expensive and the cheap does not compare.

Anyway, whenever you give your daughter a bath, wash her hair with the cleansing conditioner. I mean, you don’t have to do this everyday, but you can wash with cleansing conditioner as much as you like because it doesn’t dry out your hair like shampoos and this is because it’s not a shampoos. So, basically, you’re phasing shampoo out of your life when you start using cleansing conditioner. Follow the directions, but if her hair is thick and curly then you’ll need to use more product than recommended. For instance, all the cleansing conditioners I use says to use 1 pump as a leave-in. My hair is short and semi-thick and I use 3 pumps for my hair, so use the amount that’s right for her and be generous with it and get every inch of her hair. If you use Wen, for example, you’ll probably begin noticing healthier and hydrated hair within a week after using it regularly. Something cheaper like Hair One took about a good month before I started seeing hydrated hair, and this is with using it everyday. Using the cleansing conditioner as a leave-in every day is also key to getting hydrated hair. I used to put so much stuff in my hair trying to keep it moisturized, and then in the morning I’d wake up with dry hair and have to start over again. Now that I use cleansing conditioner my hair is actually hydrated (not just moisturized) and when I wake up in the morning my hair is no longer dry. If I wanted to skip a day of putting nothing in my hair then I could and it would still be hydrated. But, use it regularly because once you stop then your hair is bound to get dry again, so be consistent with it’s use. Like I said, my hair is about 1-2 inches long and I go through a bottle of hair one in a little less than a month and this is with using it every day. With Wen, the bottles are bigger and it costs, more, but it’ll last longer because of the bigger bottles, and it’s also more effective on my hair. For instance, I’ve noticed healthier hair with Wen. Hair One has not made my hair healthier. Wen makes my curls more manageable and super soft. Hair One does not do those things. Wen also give my hair more moisture than Hair One. Hair One is a cheap alternative, but you’ll have better looking and healthier hair with something more expensive.

Also, you’ll save lots of money with Wen and other cleansing conditioners, and this is because they are multi-purpose. They clean your hair, deep condition, condition, and is a leave-in all in one. Like I said earlier, I used to put a lot of stuff in my hair to keep it moisturized and would wake up the next day and have to do it all over again because my hair was dry by the end of the day. Now, I only put the leave-in conditioner in my hair and that’s it. So, it saves a lot of money in the end. You might go through a lot of the cleansing conditioner but you’d still be using a lot of the other products you use, too. I also used to seal in my moisture with olive oil and I don’t even use oil anymore because my hair is already hydrated so there’s no need to seal in any moisture. I wash my hair 2 times a week and I use it as a leave-in every single day. After a while you’ll begin to notice hydrated hair. Don’t stop once your hair starts becoming hydrated because if you stop using it then your hair will start becoming dry again, so if it’s working then keep using it. And, these cleansing conditioners tend to be all natural, so they’re not going to have any hash ingredients.
