Organic Millet Recipes
Organic Millet Recipes

In Bible versus Quran: a new recipe, bread of six ingredients
In the Bible, the Lord God suggests an interesting recipe for making bread and to eat it while lying on one side for 390 days.
The Lord God has commanded Ezekiel to bake the bread using human stool for fuel, then God changed it and said, “I will let you bake your bread over cow manure instead of human excrement.
Herein, we have two types of organic fuel for making bread.
Then the Lord God said: “I will tie you up with ropes so that you cannot turn from one side to the other until you have finished the days (390) of your siege.”
N.B.: if someone is lying and cannot turn from one side to the other for 390 days, he would eventually have a huge fatal bed sore.
Then the Lord God gives the following orders:
- Eat bread during the 390 days you lie on your side
- Eat bread that weighs twenty shekels of a day
- Drink water by measure, sixth part of a hin, from time to time
- Eat a barley cake that is made on human dung
- The children of Israel shall eat their defiled (unclean) bread among the nations (Gentiles), where the Lord God will drive them.
N.B.: A hin is a unit of liquid measure used by the ancient Hebrews; it is about five and half liters.
Then Ezekiel said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! Behold, I have never defiled myself. From my youth until now I have never eaten anything found dead or torn by wild animals. No unclean meat has ever entered my mouth.”
Then the Lord God said, “Very well, Lo, I have given you cow’s dung instead of human dung, and you shall prepare your bread therewith.
Moreover, the Lord God said to Ezekiel, “Son of man, behold, I will cut off the supply of food (bread) in Jerusalem. The people shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and they shall drink water by measure and in dismay. I will do this so that they lack bread and water, and have been astonished one with another, and look at one another in dismay. And have been consumed in their iniquity and rot away because of their sin.

I wonder what the wisdom of these Biblical teachings is.
Why the Lord God love recommends making bread on stool of man or even cow?
On the other hand, there is nothing like that present therein in the Entire Quran.
Also, Ezekiel is not mentioned in the Quran.
Moreover, the Quran recommends eating healthy good lawful food and forbids over-eating (verses 2:172 and 7:31).
The meaning of verse 2:172,
O believer! Eat of the good and healthy things, that are lawful, wherewith Allah has provided you, and give thanks to Allah for it and for what He has made lawful for you, if you really worship Allah.
The meaning of verse 7:31
O Children of Adam! Don your adornment at every place of worship and eat and drink what you want, but do not be excessive, prodigal or wasteful; Allah truly does not love those who are excessive, prodigal or wasteful.

The Bible,
Ezekiel 4:8-17 (English Standard Version)
8And behold, I will place cords upon you, so that you cannot turn from one side to the other, till you have completed the days of your siege.
9″And you, take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and emmer, and put them into a single vessel and make your bread from them. During the number of days that you lie on your side, 390 days, you shall eat it. 10And your food that you eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day; from day to day you shall eat it. 11And water you shall drink by measure, the sixth part of a hin; from day to day you shall drink. 12And you shall eat it as a barley cake, baking it in their sight on human dung.” 13And the LORD said, “Thus shall the people of Israel eat their bread unclean, among the nations where I will drive them.” 14Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I have never defiled myself. From my youth up till now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has tainted meat come into my mouth.” 15Then he said to me, “See, I assign to you cow’s dung instead of human dung, on which you may prepare your bread.” 16Moreover, he said to me, “Son of man, behold, I will break the supply of bread in Jerusalem. They shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and they shall drink water by measure and in dismay. 17I will do this that they may lack bread and water, and look at one another in dismay, and rot away because of their punishment.

The Quran, Yusuf Ali Translation
Verse 2:172,
O ye who believe! Eat of the good things that we have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah, if it is him ye worship.
Verse 7:31
O children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: but waste not by excess, for Allah loveth not the wasters.

Back to my question to the smart and interested reader:
Are the Scholars truthful when they claim that the Quran quoted from the Bible?
I lost my favorite energy bar recipe, does anyone have a similar one?
My favorite energy bar recipe had in it, among other things: Mixed nuts (crushed), sessame,flax and millet seeds, rice syrup, agave, evaporated cane juice, (It may have had some sugar, but I forget), coco powder, cinnamon, salt . It was just mixed up and patted between two sheets of waxed paper, not baked or anything. It had no dried fruit that I can remember. The ingredients were all Organic/Whole/Natural, as I remember them. It may have had in it a protine powder or other spices or flavorings, but it’s been two years since I saw it, and I just can’t remember. Anyone? Thank you.
Those are close – but, I’m looking for that “one” that was my favorite.
Anyone else??
these have been in my recipe box for a while and are close to what you are looking for, but not exact… I always tell myself that I am going to make homemade bars before i go hiking or biking…alas i always forget and have to stop at whole foods the night before…
you should be able to get all the ingredients at whole foods or trader joes…
good luck:)
* 1 1/2 cups ground almonds
* 1 1/2 cups ground walnuts
* 1/4 cup sesame seeds
* 1/2 cup pine nuts
* 1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries
* 1 cup dried blueberries
* 3/4 cup agave nectar, maple syrup or molasses
* cinnamon, cardamom or nutmeg (optional)
Preheat oven to 275°F.
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. The mixture will be somewhat sticky. Using wet fingers press it down into a 7×11-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with canola oil spray. Bake for 30 minutes to one hour depending on how toasty you prefer it. Cool and then cut into 16 pieces. Store in your refrigerator.

Here is something I snarfed off the net years ago. I don’t use them in races or training, but they are OK for hiking. Despite the name, I don’t think they taste much like powerbars (a plus, in my opinion).
Home-made “powerballs”
Ingredients:
24 dried figs
1/3 cup honey
4 tbsp. orange juice
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. canola oil
1/4 cup dark corn syrup
2 egg whites
1 cup oat bran
Directions:
Add figs, honey, orange juice and 2 tbsp. lemon juice to food processor and mix on “chop” setting until figs are finely cut. Set aside. Put remaining ingredients (except oat bran) in mixing bowl. Beat with electric mixer for 3-4 minutes at medium speed. Add fig mixture until everything blends. Roll 20-24 balls and coat with oat bran poured on plate. Place balls on pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until warm and a bit puffy. Place in refrigerator to harden.
and here’s another I haven’t tried:
1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup corn, safflower, or light olive oil
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup RAW sugar (not white refined sugar)
1 tablespoon finely grated orange peel (California orange NOT Florida)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup orange juice (fresh JUICED from those California oranges)
1 cup chopped dried figs
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup chopped almonds
Combine flours, sugar, wheat, wheat germ, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In smaller bowl, blend eggs, butter, honey, molasses, orange peel, vanilla, and orange juice with wire whip. Add liquid to dry ingredients; whip until smooth. Add figs, raisins, and almonds.
Spread in a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F oven for 35 minutes, until it tests done.
