name of a polymer that absorbs water!?

few years back INDIAN ORGANIC CHEMICALS LTD. KHOPOLI. had produced a polymer ” JAL SHAKTI “, which cud absorb water 17-20 times of its volume. This was basically used for agriculture and gardening. this was to be mixed with soil at the time water shortage during summer, as it cud absorb water, and release it as plant needed it.
can anybody tell if this or similar product is still available in market, and under what brand name? kindly inform the name of manufacturer and supplier!
