The first reason is that it offers the traveler the chance to enjoy the majestic atmosphere of traveling in the Nile with a lot of greenery scenes and the chance to view the life of the peasants in Upper Egypt in their natural everyday life as the ship is moving by.

The Karnak Temple
The Karnak Temple is the largest and most important temple in Luxor and maybe in Egypt as a whole. The temple dedicated to the god Amun and was first constructed by Seti I and the famous Ramses II continued its building.
The Karnak is a very important site because it is a complex that consists of tens of temples. Every Pharo in the Ancient Egyptian New Kingdom wanted to have his addition to the Karnak. The temple of Amun, which is the largest temple in the Karnak Complex, consisted of 140 meters with 122 large columns.
The Karnak Temple is the largest worship place built in the whole entire history. The Karnak Complex was dedicated afterwards for the worship of the holy tripod of Thebes, Amun, Mut, and Khonsu
The Luxor Temple
The temple of Luxor is one of the large temples of ancient Egypt. It is located on the East Bank of Luxor. The Luxor Temple was built 1400 years BC, in the reign of the 18th and the 9th dynasty. It was built for the same reason as the Karnak temple, for the worship of the holy tripod. The Luxor Temple is linked with the Karnak temple with the famous Rams headed sphinxes that marks all the way from Luxor Temple to Karnak Temple
The Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings consists of the burial site and the tombs of the kings of the New Kingdom, the dynasties from the 18th till the 20th. There are more than 28 richly decorated tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
The location of the Valley of the Kings was chosen by the Pharos for different reasons. The first reason is that its strategic location at the end of a valley that was connected to the River Nile in ancient times facilitated transportation from the East Bank, the city of the living, to the Valley of the Kings, in the west bank, the city of the dead. The other reason is the pyramid mountain located in the Valley of the Kings which reminded the Pharos of the New Kingdom of their ancestors of the old kingdom who were able to build the pyramids in Giza.
The most important tomb in the Valley of the Kings is the tomb of Tut Ankh Amun, discovered by Howard Carter in 1922.
The Temple of Hatshepsut
The temple of Hatshepsut, in the West Bank of Luxor is one of the most remarkable temples of ancient Egypt. It was constructed by Queen Hatshepsut who ruled Egypt for a period from 1503 to 1482 BC and she was a great Queen. Her mortuary temple is an evidence of her greatness. The Hatshepsut Temple is one of the best decorated and preserved temples in Egypt
The colossi of Memnon
The gigantic Colossi of Memnon is the only remaining item from the great temple of Amenhotep III. Each of these two statues is more than 19 meters high. These two statues got the name “Memnon” due to an interesting story. One of the statues had some cracking and it used to produce some noise. Therefore, the Greeks named these two statues after their legendary hero Memnon who died in the Troy battle.
The Temple of Horus in Edfu
The temple of Edfu was built for the worship of the god Horus in the Ptolemaic times and it the best preserved Ptolemaic temple in Egypt. The temple was built between the years 237 and 57 BC.
The Temple of Sobek in Kom Ombo
The Kom Ombo temple was built on a site that is directly facing the river Nile in small town of Kom Ombo to the North of Luxor. This temple was dedicated to Horus and the Sobek, the crocodile god.
The building work of the temple started around the year 160 BC and it was totally completed around the year 50 BC. The temple is divided into two sections one for Sobek and one for Horus. The most remarkable element of this temple is the ceiling that still contains bright colors and scenes of the Ptolemy XIII presenting the offerings to the gods
The High dam
The high dam is a water dam located in Aswan to the far South of Egypt. It was constructed during the reign of the former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser and the high dam was completed in the year 1971.
The High Dam helps Egypt to restore needed water and to generate electricity as well. The high dam is 360 meters long, 111 meters high, and the base of the dam is 980 meters wide. The high dam was built by the help of the Soviet Union at the time
The unfinished obelisk
The unfinished obelisk is located in Aswan. It is the largest obelisk in the entire history of ancient Egypt. It was broken while being constructed and this was why its building work was never completed.
The unfinished obelisk is 41 meters long. The importance of this site is that it is a practical demonstration of how ancient Egyptians constructed these huge obelisks
The Temple of Philae
The Ptolemaic temple of Philae is one of the most beautiful temples of ancient Egypt. The Philae temple was originally constructed for the worship of the goddess Isis. The legend has it that Isis was able to find the heart of her murdered husband Osiris on the island of Philae and from that point in time, this island became a holy land.
The whole complex of the temple of Philae was dismantled and reconstructed again in another location by the UNESCO after the flooding of the river Nile that took place after the building of the high dam.
