Home Organization Hacks

You’re probably already asking yourself, “What’s a home organization hack?”  Well, the answer can really be anything.  A “hack” is a term used to describe using an object or item for something other than its original intention.  Using empty toilet paper tubes to roll your hair is a good example of a “hair roller hack”.  There are lots of creative people out there using many things to organize around their home that weren’t really intended for that purpose.

I just love the site ikeahackers where you can find all kinds of furniture and home décor items being used in creative ways.  I especially love when someone is able to transform something into something extremely useful.  This lovely couple needed to really get creative when they introduced their new twins into their really small home.  Just imagine adding two high chairs to a really small kitchen, only big enough to hold a small table.  One couple got out the tools and went to work, creating an awesome eating/craft area for the whole family by adding two baby chairs inside of their table. One person dressed up a low shelf and turned it into very attractive and budget friendly dining benches for their dining room.

Egg cartons can be used to organize little things, like buttons, pins, or even coins.  Old sheets can be used as curtains or cushion covers.  Mirror tiles can be used as candle holders.  You can use just about anything that will attach to the wall as a decorative robe hook or purse hanger.  Using or reusing items around your home in a way that helps you to stay on top of things is a great way to feel creative and keep things straight at the same time.

Using home organization hacks in your closet is another great way to keep it organized.  After all, if the closet is easy to access and keep straight, then other things around the house seem to fall into place.  You can use a potato bin or bread box in your closet as an easy-access sock holder.  Pajamas and delicates can be stored neatly in a movable dresser with shallow drawers meant for craft supplies.  Using a wagon instead of a laundry basket means that you’ll never have to lift it again.

Try to think outside of the box and have fun with it.  Getting organized doesn’t have to be a grueling task.  Make room in your closet for some of the ideas you come up with by creatively cascading <a href=”http://www.onlyhangers.com”title=”Hangers”>hangers</a> together.  You can even create a chain of clothes hangers that make a great spot for organizing all of your purses and tote bags.  A shelf with a rod meant to hang in the bathroom could make a great place for you to hang quilts, boots, or sheets.  Use your imagination, look around your house, and see how many hacks you can come up with.  

How to convince my mom to pay for half?

So I want this ADORABLE bedding from PBteen but its sooooo expensive. I’m 13, and this is my last time I get to redo my room till I move out.

Well, do you actually NEED new bedding? If the answer is no, then I don’t think you should convince her to pay for half – it’s a bit of wasted money. Otherwise, try to see it from her POV if she refuses – maybe you don’t have the money for materialistic items, or she thinks a 13 year old hardly needs something so extravagant.

I don’t know your mother, so I don’t really know how to convince her to fork over that much money for something that is a WANT rather than a NEED.
