LIGHTSIDE
Wives will outsmart you every time. I told my wife “50 years ago we had a cheap suite, no car, a black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 23 year old gal.  Now I have a million dollar home, a $80,000.00 car, plasma screen TV, but I am sleeping with a 65 year old woman”.

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a 23 year old hot gal and she would make sure that I once again would be living in a cheap suite, no car, sleep on a sofa bed, and watch the news on a 10 inch black and white TV.

 CLEANING GREEN

Chemical-based cleaners are harmful for the environment.

For most surfaces vegetable-based all-purpose soap does the Job.  Use vinegar and water for a natural way to clean most surfaces.  Mix one part vinegar, 2 parts water for a cleaner that can be used for hardwood and regular floors. Great for washing windows too. Just put in a spray bottle, which makes it easier when cleaning. Always check a small area of flooring to make sure there is no chance of damage.

If scouring is required, baking soda and washing soda are great.

In my archives at http://www.cbestbuys, you can find a full page of cleaning tips, which covers most cleaning problems you may have.

WATER
A variety of emergency situations, from floods to earthquakes to toxic spills, could contaminate the local water supply and leave you without access to water. As a result, it’s important to know how to safely store and treat water of uncertain purity during an emergency.

The best way to treat water is often a combination of methods, as boiling and disinfection will kill most microorganisms but only distillation will remove other contaminants.  Boiling is the safest method of treating water. Keep water at a boil for 10 minutes for maximum effectiveness.

Disinfection with regular household liquid bleach can also kill microorganisms. Use only liquid bleach that contains 5.25 percent sodium hypochlorite as the active ingredient. DO NOT USE scented bleaches, colour-safe bleaches or bleaches with added cleaners.

Add one to two drops of bleach per litre of clear water. Stir and let stand for 30 minutes. If the water does not have a slight bleach odour, repeat the dosage and let stand another 15 minutes.
Distillation involves boiling water and then collecting the vapour that condenses back to water.

RESPONSIBLE DRINKING
If you have teenagers, or in fact any adult, impress on them the
risks of driving while intoxicated. Statistics demonstrate drunk
drivers cause many fatal road accidents.

It should be known that like any other drug, addiction is a
potential hazard.  Excess of alcohol will affect organs such as the brain, heart, and liver.

Fix my organic chocolate chip cookies? ?

I made chocolate chip cookies using organic ingredients (organic sugar, flour, vanilla, butter, chocolate, brown sugar, and regular baking soda). I followed my usual recipe, but had to add some some extra sugar.

But when I tasted them again it still wasn’t very sweet, so I ended up doubling the sugar and cooking them (without tasting because I was in a hurry).

When I finished cooking and cooling them, I tasted them. It wasn’t sweet AT ALL, and tasted more bitter than anything else.

I also had a problem with my chocolate chips sticking into the batter.

What can I add to make the next batch of cookies sweeter, since the sugar alone doesn’t obviously do it? And how can I make things blend easier? (Using organic ingredients?)

Thanks. =]

As the other have said you left out the salt.

organic foods cook up just the same as conventionally grown foods and should taste the same (i.e. sugar will be sweet no matter how it was grown.

It is good you are using organic products because with organic products you will not be using GMO’s. Which is likely in sugar as this year was the first year GMO sugar beets were allowed to be grown and sold. You also avoided GMO’s in your chocolate (sugar and lethicin)

there is a big difference between organic and convention in how the farms are managed and the crops are grown. people who make statements that there is no difference obviously do not know much about farming in general and nothing about organic growing
