Follow Tobacco Road: The Best Way to Get Organic Tobacco
In the state of North Carolina, in The United States of America there is an area known as tobacco road. Since the first tobacco plant was brought to the United States, North Carolina has been one of the largest growers and producers of tobacco in the United States, few people realize that tobacco grows very well in the U.K too and in most parts of the World. For years, as advances were made in growing tobacco, farms began to use pesticides and other chemicals to help fight off pests and other diseases. The use of these chemicals eventually caused them to be passed on to the tobacco plant. Organic tobacco is a great alternative to growing tobacco in this way. Several tobacco farmers on tobacco road have decided to grow organic tobacco as an alternative to using harmful pesticides and chemicals. While organic tobacco may have its draw, there is one negative that can have an off-putting effect on the consumer: the price. Organic tobacco is normally priced a great deal higher than non organic tobacco.
An easy way to get organic tobacco is to follow tobacco road and simply grow organic tobacco. At first thought, it may seem to be a laborious task but the actual process of growing tobacco is, in fact, not very difficult. For a start, it would be necessary to purchase organic tobacco seeds, which can be done with relative ease as there are a wide range of tobacco seed sellers. Another option would be to buy a tobacco plant, already grown to an extent and ready for planting. Regardless of method (tobacco plant or seed) once your tobacco plant is procured the first step down a short path is complete and the enjoyment of self grown, organic tobacco is about to commence!
When you grow tobacco you need some space to grow it. Either one square meter per plant or pots that can accommodate around twelve liters of potting medium will do the job just fine. For quantity of tobacco, you should estimate personal use keeping in mind that one tobacco plant will produce one hundred grams of dried tobacco. Now that the space has been found and amount needed has been calculated, concentration can be placed upon the actual method used to grow a tobacco plant or tobacco plants.
For best results when you grow tobacco, a good soil rich in nutrients and organic matter should be selected. Since the theme is organic tobacco, this is very important. Organic tobacco is grown without the benefit of harmful chemical fertilisers or pesticides. After two weeks, a tobacco plant will need fertiliser. This is where concentration should be placed for growing tobacco, organic tobacco. Instead of running to the store and buying expensive, harmful chemical fertilisers, use natural types of fertiliser. Manure is one of the most natural types of fertiliser that can be used. In addition, compost materials combined with manure team up to make the terrific team to grow a perfectly organic tobacco plant. Bone meal, phosphate rocks, alfalfa meal, and even bat guano are useful to grow organic tobacco. Tobacco is a plant that, luckily, has little to no pests but there are a few. A snail or a slug would gladly make a meal out of a tobacco plant. A good way to prevent the slug or snail is to make periodic checks of each tobacco plant and remove them if discovered. Another way to grow organic tobacco is to plant diversionary crops that are more appealing to possible pests, sunflowers, for example, are good for this purpose. If any other pests seem to be infesting tobacco plants, a warm water mist should drive them away to other areas.
After ninety days, and if organic methods are held to, you will have successfully grown a tobacco plant (or plants) that is not tainted by chemicals and pesticides. Everything that has been put in will come out and will be revealed in the finished product, in this case organic tobacco.
Organic tobacco is priced because it is not easy to grow, on a large scale, but for personal use, growing organic tobacco is a cheap, environmentally friendly way to enjoy tobacco.
If tobacco companies know that artificial chemicals are so harmful why do they add them?
There are literally dozens of Chemicals in cigarettes that are man made and harmful. So I was thinking why doesn’t the Tobacco industry simply not add them to their products therefore making them Organic?
Do cigarettes actually need all those chemicals? The only chemical would be nicotinamide the natural compound of tobacco Therefore giving the anti tobacco lobby less reason to attack them.
ps Im a non smoker and I despise the habit.

The farmers who grow the tobacco plant put the chemicals on them (fertilizers & insecticides) – the makers of cigarettes just process the plants…. but the chemicals are all insignificant compared to the cancer causing effects of actually breathing in the smoke of the burning the leaf ..
PS – if Darwin is right, idiots who smoke and die off early (along with their offspring) should be leading to a general improvement in the IQ level of the human race ??
