Consumers Gobble Up Organic Turkeys

As public realizes the hazards of chemically grown poultry, more and more people are shifting to organic turkeys.

Organic turkeys are grown without introducing antibiotics and other chemicals in their body. They are given organic feeds instead, free from artificial substances, colors and flavors.

The sales of organic poultry which includes turkey are recognized as one of the top sales in the industry of organic products.

Antibiotics and other chemicals are used in traditional agriculture to speed up the growth of livestock and get rid of diseases. But then, the public health authorities are concerned with the people who eat livestock treated with antibiotic since they are developing resistance to the same antibiotic drugs prescribed to them.

The American Medical Association consequently carried out the decree of prohibiting the usage of antibiotics during non therapeutic cases in agriculture as well as pesticides or growth accelerators which are proven to have ill effects to the consumers.

Many established poultry companies declared that they will no longer include that certain antibiotic that might be the cause of breeding bacteria resistant to antibiotic. This is in accordance with what the U.S. Food and Drug Administration suspects as the main cause.

However, consumer can never be too sure even after that promising resolution made since farmers are not even required to report their usage of antibiotic, and we are not sure if they are following it.

To ensure safety, people can take the benefit of consuming organically cultivated poultry and meat products. Organic foods are free from artificial flavors, colors and growth hormones for they are strictly following the national standards to maintain the company’s good status.

For health-conscious consumers, low-fat and high-protein organic turkey is a popular choice year-round. Nationwide, more than 15 percent of all turkeys consumed are during the Thanksgiving holiday and another 8 percent over Christmas.

For consumers who are very conscious about their health, an organic turkey that contains high protein and low fat is a wise choice. More than 15 percent organic turkeys are being consumed nationwide during Thanksgiving and 8 percent during Christmas holiday.

Does it seem kind of difficult to go 100% organic lifestyle?

Can be pricey…mostly the meats which are expensive…I eat mostly ground turkey and boneless chicken which say are no hormones or steroids….what are your thoughts?

Dude…eat oats. Then eat only fresh veggies with olive oil (cold pressed). Eat white meat. (chicken breast or veal fed organically..whatever that means) Drink water. If you do all this..you’ll be a healthy, boring person and I’ll never take you to dinnner at my favorite Trattoria.
