Cosmetics for Acne Prone Skin: What does acne prone skin mean? An acne prone skin is always laden with sebum and oil. So, the cosmetics you choose must be light to let your skin breathe. Remember the following guidelines before you pick up cosmetics for acne prone skin.

• The face cream or moisturizer must be free from Lanolin and Isopropyl myristate.
• Instead of heavy moisturizers, use serums and light water based lotions that can restore the moisture balance without drying out the skin.
• Use non-greasy sunscreen with SPF 30 containing titanium oxide.
• The foundation you choose must be non-comedogenic (one that does not clog pores).
• For acne prone skin, always opt for a mineral makeup or liquid makeup containing organic botanical extracts, titanium oxide, zinc oxide having anti bacterial properties.
• Choose a cleanser specially formulated for acne containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide that can control acne.

• Now pour little foundation on your palm and apply evenly all over your face with delicate sliding, long sweeps, or in a circular motion for proper blending. A slight tinted oil free moisturizer can also be used in place of the foundation and not apply too much foundation on your acne.
• Use a clean makeup brush to apply the blusher on your cheeks with its tip. Sweep and merge it properly so that it doesn’t highlight your acne. The blusher should also be oil free and mild.
• Now gently apply a concealer with your finger tip to cover the acne, pimple and spots on your face. The concealer should be high quality and should match the color of your foundation and skin tone for best coverage of the blemishes on the skin.
• For the final touch, spray light powder on your face for a perfect look. This also gives you a neat, oil free and smooth look.

allergic to makeup…..

my sophomore year of highschool i developed a severe allergy to makeup. i figured it was just the talc. but i’ve tried so many different kinds and its not a severe but bad enough to not use them. i dont want to wear a lot, just eyeliner and mascara. even bare minerals doesnt work. any one know of anything i might be able to use, maybe something completely organic?

Yes, Yes and yes. You can wear makeup. Bare escentuals did not work for you probably because of the bismuth oxychloride which is well known to cause skin irritation, itching etc.. (you could google bare escentuals bismuth oxychloride itch and find pages and pages of people allergic to it) not to mention they did use preservative in their mineral veil formulas etc.. Other skin care brands use a slew of chemicals one being propelyne glycol, which is a derivative of a greasy substance used in break fluid, and others use mineral oil (which does not penetrate the skin barrier, clogging pores and causing break outs) and especially preservatives whcih can cause long term effects.
