I love making yogurt now. I am making SCD yogurt with this machine. That means I let it ferment for 24 hours.
Here is the trick that I have learned though…I had to get a light dimmer plug. It is one that plugs into the outlet, then I plug the Yogogourmet into that and after testing the water temp. a bit I have figured out that the dimmer needs to be set slightly beyond the half-way dim. It keeps the water bath perfectly between 102-108 for the whole 24 hours!
The other tricks I have is that I am using this brand Starter- I tried Dannon All Natural but I actually like this better. The last trick which really seals the flavor, taste and creaminess of this yogurt is that I drip it for about 2-4 hours after it has cooled a bit. I use the bag that came with this yogurt maker- I lay the bag across a large strainer and just dump the whole container of yogurt on top of the bag. Best yogurt ever!!!! Very happy with this maker and the delicious yogurt it produces!

Breakfast smoothie nutritional facts. Let me know about my smoothie?

I’m drinking a breakfast smoothie every morning in place of unhealthy cereals, poptarts etc This is what is in it:
1/2 Banana
4 Frozen Strawberries
1 Tbsp Flax Seeds
2 whole raw organic eggs (I workout regularly so this is some protein)
1/2 cup whole milk

thought about adding yogurt.

I’m not worried about my caloric intake as I exercise often but I don’t eat fruits like I should. What are the pros and cons of this smoothie from a nutritional perspective?
What might be some minor changes I could make to get some nutritional benefits? If you can, please break down what each ingredient in the list does for me and also any you may add. Thanks so much and hopefully this will help others doing the same

Actually, that is pretty nutritious. You know if you work out you need the protein, it is there. Flax is grain and healthy and has fiber, and is known to lower cholesterol. the 1/2 banana is a great choice, full of minerals and vitamins.
I would question the whole milk. Is this the only fat in your diet? Then have at. If not, then maybe some 1 or 2% milk. And the strawberries are good and have fiber, and are about 1/2 fruit serving if they are large, as is the banana.The only thing missing is some vitamin C, there is some in the strawberries, but you would need close to a cup of strawberries to get enough C. And I am assuming you will also get more calcium later in the day.
Yogurt is great, it regulates digestion, it is a source of calcium, and if you switch your milk to 1 or 2 % and add a serving of plain yogurt, you are not adding many calories.
And watch the eggs, 6 eggs per week is the latest recommended total for a male. The seeds of cardiovascular disease are sewn early in life. Switch an egg for some yogurt sometimes.
5 servings of fruit/veggies a day is the lowest we should have.
