There are Good Benefits From Red Yeast Rice
Although exercise can actually get rid or burn those excess fats in the body and eventually lower down your cholesterol level, it’s not enough. You need to maintain a well-balanced diet composed of lean meat and healthy oils. You can also supplement your food intake by taking in red yeast rice, a specially fermented recipe that is popular among the Chinese.
What is red yeast rice?
Red yeast rice is a type of rice that has been fermented by Monascus purpureus, which is actually red yeast. If you think that this is entirely new, you are definitely wrong. This unique process of fermentation has been around for so many years. In China, centuries ago, it had been used to color their food, to produce rice wine, or to serve as preservatives. Today, it has been consumed by a lot of people all over the world. In America, an average person takes in as much as 55 grams of it.
What are the dietary benefits or red yeast rice?
This was used by the Chinese to curb diarrhea, but constant studies reveal that there are still more benefits one can gain from red yeast rice. First, it is known to improve the condition of the heart and blood circulation, preventing the development of cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure. Though more investigation is needed, there’s a huge possibility that this can also aid those people who are suffering from diabetes.
But nothing seems more dominant than the use of red yeast rice in lowering the cholesterol level of a person.
Is there a bad cholesterol?
Contrary to what other people believe, everyone has a certain cholesterol level; and it can be good, bad, or both. The good one is called high-density lipoprotein (HDL). This is the kind of cholesterol that removes the excess by “bringing” them into the liver, where they can be eliminated forever. Thus, it prevents the buildup of the bad one into the blood vessels and arteries, lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
On the other hand, you have low-density lipoprotein (LDL), considered to be the bad one. Unlike its counterpart, this one increases the buildup of fatty acids among the walls of blood vessels and arteries, particularly in the heart. The buildup can cause clogging, making it more difficult for the organ to pump blood to different parts of the body. Thus, it easily gets tired and can suffer from heart attack.
What’s the use of the rice?
This rice contains a unique enzyme called monacolin K, which has the ability to lower down the cholesterol level. It also has niacin, fiber, linoleic acids, and magnesium, to name a few. Moreover, when combined with Cordyceps Stroma, it becomes even more effective as it will contain a higher level of monacolin K while strengthening your immune system.
When you’re looking for the right supplement with such kind of rice, make sure that it’s already bio ready, so your body doesn’t need to convert the enzyme for its use.
7 month old with rice cereal and banana allergies?
So far my daughter (7 months) has had a reaction everytime I’ve tried to give her solids. Two times she had organic rice cereal mixed with breast milk and got hives on her face (only a couple though). She also spit up a lot afterwards and was very fussy.
A few days ago I tried giving her on organic banana pureed with breast milk . She ate two tiny bites then started to projectile vomit. Scared the daylights out of me! Then today I dabbed a bit of organic banana on her cheek (I read to do this to test for allergies) and sure enough it turned bright red.
What should I do? I am too scared to try feeding her anything else. I thought rice cereal and banana were supposed to be among the least allergenic foods. Should I ask the pedi for allergy testing?
My Daughter was just like that at that age too. She was allergic to everything I gave her. Now babies get all they need from breastmilk and formula until they are atleast 1 years old. She didn’t have her allergy testing until she was 18 months old. That was the youngest they would do it here. I would speak to the pediatrician and ask when you can have it done.
Be prepared because the allergy testing is no picnic. They oked my Daughter over 50 times up and down her back and another 25 plus times down her arms with the needle. She cried and cried and then I had to keep her still. That was the longest appointment in my life. Trying to keep a toddler on her belly for over 15 minutes and another 15-25 minutes on my lap. It was awful, but alteast I was able to see where her allergies lie and I was glad because she is allergic to nuts which can be fatal.
When we finally started introducing foods again I started out with avacado. It was the one thing that she took too and then I moved on to organic veggies that I washed up really well and made myself in the blender. I made all our own food. I know it is a pain, but it was better than having a very ill baby. As it was we would still get the ocassional stuff she couldn’t have by mistake.
I wish you luck. Start with avacado and it is a good fat. Then I moved on to squash and peas.
