These are more durable and fashionable too. Platinum with white alloys of gold are demanding by the wedding couples. Slightly yellow ‘white’ gold alloys which was used with gold is now replaced with cheaper nickel-gold alloy with a plating of rhodium. This can be cheap than before but it is it is not at all durable and good. As we have said earlier that titanium has become a hot element for making a wedding ring and every couple wants that. The reasons are its durability, affordability, and gunmetal grey color. Tungsten carbide is also another metal which is gradually picking its name in this list of wedding ring materials. With gold or platinum inlays tungsten carbide is used. The most inexpensive and common ring material is nickel silver. Now the most shocking and striking news in this ground is that couples are also considering stainless steel as the material for their wedding ring. It is equally durable like platinum and titanium and can be molded to a finer finish than the metals mentioned before. But probable problem is that it corrodes over time and thus do not convey a sense of permanence. That is the same problem with metals like brass, silver and copper. The toxicity of aluminum and tin and carcinogenic nature of lead have made these metals not suitable for making wedding rings. Wood, stone and organic materials can also be used for decorations and adding more beauty to the ring.

Diamond wedding ring is always the foremost favorite wedding ring of all the couples. Be it western or be it eastern. Designing houses are providing wide range of diamond rings. Each ring is crafted with ultimate intricacies and fine texture finishing. Gold is and will be always every woman’s and man’s favorite. Gold with diamond studied design is a perfect wedding choice. In India gold is thought to be auspicious and that is why wedding rings generally are made up of gold. Gold ring with diamond embellishments is perfect for an Indian wedding ceremony. But now the taste of brides and grooms are experiencing virtual changes and that is why new thins are coming into the scenario. Platinum and titanium rings with diamond embellishments are becoming very much popular these days. Where can I find non-diamond engagement/wedding rings?

I’m not a diamond kind of person, or gold, and recently saw a sterling silver with labradorite engagement ring and wedding band set.

There was a questioner on here a few days ago who listed a lot of links from Etsy. You can probably find a LOT of shops on Esty who have what you’re looking for.

Now, the “organic looking” rings you’re looking at are going to be fairly expensive for what you’re getting, and that’s because you’re the small, independent artists can’t buy in the same bulk that larger retailers can. That’s fine, and it’s wonderful to support local/small business artists. BUT, if getting more bling for your money is important to you, these places may not be the best choices.

One option you could look at would be small business retailers, not jewelers – you’ll still be getting a deal, but you’ll also still be supporting a small business owner.

And as to the poster who thinks the symbolism of the diamond is so very important, that’s great, for her – but not for everyone. Perhaps color, comfort, or design could lead you to make your own metaphors that have even more symbolism to you because your time and thought went into them. Not everyone has to use the same symbolism, and it’s great to be able to think creatively.

And the diamond trade has a long history of violence – an older ring is certainly NOT likely to be conflict free just because the issues leading to fighting were different in preceding generations. It’s only been in recent years that diamond dealers have signed agreements to try to deal only in conflict-free diamonds.
