Couponing Tips

1.Dont clear Shelves – This is not practical and not polite couponing! Let everyone get a chance at some of the deals, and at most only purchase a quanitity that your family will use for 6 months. You do not need a lifetime supply of toothepaste. Also when you stick with couponing you will learn the things that you can always get free or cheap, and you will then find your stockpile price.

2. You dont need an extreme Couponers Stockpile. – While the stockpiles you see on extreme couponing are very impressive, you will also find that they might not be the most practical. Most people are not going to willing to give up large portions of their house in order to stock items.  You can use a small closet or your pantry to stockpile, and keep it on a smaller scale. Simply keep less, rather than keeping a 6 month supply of items keep a 3 month.

3. Use High Value Coupons on Smaller Sizes -This is a very important couponing tip most coupons will either say any size or also be valid for a smaller size item. Simply read the coupon, but for the most part you can always assume that the smaller size is always the better value especially when you have a high value coupon.

4. You do not need to devote 80 hours per week to coupons – It is not practical to plan on donating 80 hours per week to your coupon habit, that is borderline addiction, and not worth it. If you stay on top of your coupons, and work to get them organized each week you will only need to spend maybe an hour a week on organization, and an hour a week  to plan shopping trips.

5. You need to find a good organization system and stick with it. – Whether you use a binder or envelopes or a travel coupon organizer, make sure you find a suitable organization system  and stick with it.

6. Buy Items you dont need to make money on them or because they are free – This particular tip is so important in our failing economy. Food banks are in a great need for food, and personal hygiene items, this not only helps you out by getting items that will make you money for other items, it also gives you a chance to give back to the community and does not cost you a thing.

7. Know what coupon inserts are in each paper – This is very important, you need to know what coupon inserts to expect in the paper each week

8. Dont be afraid to shop more then one store – Lots of times it becomes apparent that there are great free things at CVS, and at Walgreens, and Also at Walmart. Shop at every store, make a schedule and a list and hit every store, or Alternate each week.

9. Read Coupons Carefully – In order to avoid an ordeal at the check out counter make sure what you are buying is listed on the coupon, and you are purchasing the right size and quantity.
