Odourless, solvent-free Organic Paints

VOCs are a major contributor to low-level atmospheric pollution and the use of these compounds leads to global warming. In addition, the use of solvent-based paints is a major cause of Sick Building Syndrome, Danish Painter’s Syndrome, Asthma, Allergies, Chemical Sensitivities and the general Flu-like symptoms reported by many people using conventional paints INCLUDING Matt and Silk wall paints!   Most paints currently on sale, both gloss and emulsion, contain solvents and VOCs.  Organic paints contain none. As a result they are ideal for children’s bedrooms, nurseries, kitchens and anywhere in the home, especially if you or a member of your family is chemically sensitive or suffers from asthma or allergies. Using Organic paints means that rooms are safe and pleasant to live in-play in-sleep in-eat in!   What is Organic Paints?

  • Water, natural plus manufactured binders (all water-based, all non-toxic)
  • Pigments (yellow ochre, red ochre, various – all non toxic)
  • Mineral fillers – limestone, clays (non-toxic)
  • Thickeners & builders – wood cellulose & resinous (all non-toxic)
  • White pigment – titanium dioxide (food grade – non-toxic)
  • Levellers (all non-toxic)
  • Waxes & texture powders (all non-toxic)

What is NOT Organic Paints?

  • Solvents and white spirit, turpentine, terpenes, ethereal oils, VOC’S glycols, coalescents,
  • Animal products
  • Heavy metals, – lead, cadmium, mercury etc Ecos is EN71 compliant
  • Formaldehyde and formaldehyde donors, acrolein
  • Vinyl chloride
  • Phthalates
  • APEOs.
  • Acrylic Softeners

The world’s best selling water based organic paint, totally free of all pesticides, herbicides & toxins. Conventional gloss paints AND emulsion paints contain solvents which can cause irritation and serious health problems.  Organic paints- the world’s only range of water based solvent free paints and varnishes.

Our wall paints offer acompletely unique range of decorative finishes. It’s the only range of totally solvent-free paints available anywhere in the world today and has been independently tested to reveal 0.0% VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Colligative Properties!?

An unknown organic compound is mixed with 0.5190g of naphthalene crystals to give a mixture having a total mass of 0.5959g. The mixture if heated until the naphthalene melts and the unknown substance dissolves. Upon cooling, the solution freezes at a temperature of 74.8 degrees celcius. What is the molar mass of the unknown compound?

naphthalene crystals f.p constant is -6.94 and b.p is 5.80

I keep getting a negative for this problem which isnt possible so how would you solve it. i did it by first finding the mass of the unknown, then the molality..using the freezing point formula, then i found the mol of the solute, which led me to find the molar mass..

but i get a negative number so thats obviously wrong.
the boling point of naphthalene is 217.7 degrees celcius

it could be due to the data you are using

the melting point of naphthalene 80.26 °C

so the delta T to put in the formula is 5.46 °C (80.26-74.8)

ΔTf = Kbp · m *i

where m is the molatity of the solution

i is the number of particles in this case = 1

5.46 = 6.94 *m

m= 0.787 mole of organic compound in 1 kg of napthtalene

= .787 * .5959 /1000 moles in .5959 g solvent = .469 * 10 ^-3 moles

these moles are .0769 g of compound ( 0.5959 – .5190g) so molecular weight = .0769 / .469 * 10 ^-3

= 164 g/ mole

don’t worry about the sign of the temp difference

and the boiling point is totally irrelevant
